The Boar Bristle Brush

Hey everyone!
I hope you all had a fabulous long weekend.

I recently went to my hair salon and like everyone, I always like to ask a lot of questions and what products would be best for my hair etc... I was telling my hair colourist that my hair is naturally pretty oily and that I have to wash my hair every other day. There is just no way I can go any longer without washing my hair then that. I thought at this point she was going to ask me what products I use on my hair, but instead she asked me if I comb my hair, how frequently and what do I use to comb it with.

Ok so before I go on I have a confession to make!
I don't comb my hair and I never have. Yes, you read that right. The only time I will comb my hair is if I have just washed it. I guess I can honestly say that the reason why I never have was because I was always afraid that my hair would break due to the fact that I have thinner hair and that it is coloured treated.

She told me one of the best brushes to use is a natural boar bristle brush!
So I went to Sally's and decided to pick up the Hot N Silky Boar Bristle Oval Cushion Brush.  I chose to get this one because it seemed a little softer than some of the others and it was cheaper.

What is so great about this brush?
The Boar bristles distribute the natural oils throughout your hair. Instead of the oils sitting at the crown of your head or along your hair line, the boar bristles allow the oils to be distributed down the hair shaft to the ends of the hair where the hair is normally "dryer" which allows your natural oils to be absorb in and give shine. It also minimizes breakage, split ends, and it's great for detangling. This brush is also great for people who have thick coarse hair.

I have been using this brush for just over a week and I can honestly say that I really like this brush a lot. I am not scared to use this brush like some of the other plastic or wire brushes that can be too rough on your hair. It's very gentle and I have seen a difference with the oils in my hair. The day I don't wash my hair, my hair doesn't look as oily at the crown of my head or along the hair line and my hair does look more shiny especially on the ends.

I am really glad that I purchased this brush {I am sure my hair loves me for it also lol} and I would really recommend this brush to anyone. I hope this information was helpful.

 Have a lovely day!

    1. To be honest I am not sure if Target sells these brushes or not. I was told to go to Sally's to get it but I can't see why Target wouldn't or any other store for that matter.

  6. Boar Bristle is the BEST-speaking as a hairstylist ;] I too never use to brush my hair but I found once I started, my hair and scalp felt amazing and it made my hair grow faster as well due to stimulating the follicles on your scalp!!! They are worth the money and I would not buy a cheap version. Mason Pearson is top of the line but super expensive. Almost every beauty supply has them :)

    Thanks for sharing Ashley!

Happy Thursday... Where does the time go?!

  8. I stopped using a brush on my hair a few months ago. I had a lot of split hairs and when I stopped, it seemed to really help. I now use a comb and love how much less splitting I have!
