When it comes to hairbrushes and combs, you probably only need at least 2-3 different brushes. Choosing the right brush and/or comb all depends on your hair type and how you style your hair on a regular basis.
The following are a list of hairbrushes for the every day girl...
Detangling Hairbrush or Wide Tooth Comb: This brush and comb is great for detangling wet hair.
Paddle Brush: This is a multitasking brush that is great for detangling hair, adds volume to the crown while blow drying and this brush also gives a smooth blowout.
Boar Bristle Oval Cushioned Brush: Boar brushes are made out of natural boar bristles which allows the natural oils on the hair to be distributed evenly throughout the hair from roots to ends. This brush is great for just about anything from combing your hair, smoothing out flyaways, brushing out curls to create loose waves and even teasing. Using this brush minimizes breakage, split ends and is great for detangling.
Small Boar Bristle Brush: Used for teasing {back combing hair} and great for taming flyaways and bangs.
Boar or Nylon Bristle Metal Brush: This brush is versatile for straight and curly haired gals. For thick straight hair, this is great for adding curl to your hair and for thick curly hair, it's great for creating tension
Bristle Round Brush: This brush is great for adding waves to the hair as well as bounce and shine during your blowout. It's also great for adding volume to side bangs.
Ceramic or Metal Round Brush: This is a vented brush that allows air to pass through the brush to allow air flow to circulate at root level, speeding up drying time from any angle. The metal brush heats up allowing you to be able to curl your hair without a curling iron.
Rat Tail Comb: This comb can be used to part hair with the pointed handle, used to tease hair and it's also used for finishing and styling the hair as well.
Types of Brushes that I use:
Wide Tooth Comb
To comb out and detangle my wet hair
Boar Bristle Oval Cushioned Brush
My hair is naturally pretty oily but my ends are drier. I love to use this brush because it allows the natural oils to be distributed down the hair shaft to the ends of the hair where my hair is drier. I did a post on Boar Bristle Brushes. You can read all about it
here.
Bristle Round Brush
I love to use this brush to give my hair volume and body
Teasing Brush
I tend to back comb the crown of my hair to add volume and I also use this brush to tease my hair for certain hairstyles as well.
