With the right makeup tips, you can easily turn back the clock and look younger!
Moisturize
This is so obvious but it's worth repeating because all the other steps are worthless if you don't do this one first. Before you even think of applying any makeup and with your face still a little damp from cleansing, apply your moisturizer. "The more hydrated your skin, the younger it looks."
Choose Liquid Concealer
As we age there is more to conceal but concealer can draw attention to fine lines. You want a product that hides redness and dark circles without getting cakey, which means a liquid concealer is key, preferably in a pen form. Anything that comes in a pan has a wax base and will look waxy on the skin. "A click-pen formula covers just as well and doesn't seep into lines."
Buy a Yellow{ish} Foundation
Not banana yellow, just yellowish. Yellow warms up the skin and the warmer your skin looks, the younger it looks.
Skip Tinted Face Powder
If you feel naked without powder then use a translucent, light diffusing powder to set your base.
Show Off Your Bone Structure
Apply your blush to the highest points of your cheekbones. It makes your bone structure stand out.
Tweeze or Wax Your Brows, But Only If You Absolutely Have To
Tweezing or waxing a lot, won't reshape anything, it'll just make your brows thinner. If you tweeze at all, then only tweeze the most obvious hairs. If you need more shaping, then go to a professional.
Choose a Light Brow Pencil or Shadow
When filling in your brows, use a pencil or shadow that is lighter than your natural brow color {If you are blonde, then choose one shade lighter and if you are brunette, then again use a shade lighter} and fill it in at a 45 degree angle and use light, soft strokes to create a more natural look.
Eyebrow Gel
Using an eyebrow gel is key in keeping your brows looking polished. Brows frame the face and it's important to keep it looking groomed.
Curl your Lashes
Eyelashes flatten as we age, and it's a good idea to curl the lashes. Even if you skip the mascara, curling your lashes will make your eyes look brighter and larger.
Brown Eyeliner
Wear a deep brown eyeliner. Dark brown has the same impact as black but it looks less drastic and it's more subtle.
Eyeshadow with Some Shimmer
A little shimmer in the eyeshadow is flattering when your getting older, as this brings light to the face. A creamy neutral color like champagne or gold is a great option. Don't forget to apply an eyeshadow primer first or get a crease proof eyeshadow.
Lengthening Mascara
Lashes get thinner as we age. Heavy mascara formulas flatten lashes, so instead, look for a lengthening mascara {which is lighter on the lashes} with a thin wand so you can easily coat each lash.
Highlighter
Dab a sheer formula onto the cheekbones. This will add a subtle and youthful glow to your face. A champagne highlighter is perfect for light skin and a golden highlighter is great for medium to dark skin tones.
