ENHANCE YOUR FEATURES

http://sincerelymissashley.blogspot.ca

1. CREATE A CONTRAST:

Using a bronzer that has "zero" shimmer and fewer orange tones is key. If you have a darker complexion, try using a bronzer that is two shades darker than your skin tone. Be sure to blend, blend, blend {this is crucial} as you don't want a distinct line on your face.
{My favorite bronzer is Nars Laguna}

2. HITTING THE HOLLOWS:

Using a face brush or any type of brush that you prefer, you want to start at a point that is parallel and center of your ear and stroke the colour downward to the outer corner of your mouth. Afterwards, you want to blend upward to soften that line. Once you have done that, then sweep a little bit of bronzer around your temple to the outer corner of your brows as well as sweeping a little along the jaw line and down the neck.

3. LET IT GLOW:

 Next, you want to add some contrast and further emphasize your cheek bones by applying a cream or powder luminizer {highlight} directly onto the cheekbone just above where you have contoured, a little on the temples and under your brow bone. You will then want to highlight the bridge of your nose {applied to the bridge of your nose and then downward until you are halfway down your nose} as well as little on your cupids bow {upper lip}.
{My favorite highlighter is MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl} This is actually a cream eye shadow base but I like to use it as a highlighter}

4. BLUSHING IT:

With a blush brush, simply sweep on your favorite blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards towards your hair line. "Optional"- I sometimes like to add a little dusting on my nose from whatever is left over on the brush. It adds a little warmth and colour to my face that I love.
{I am currently switching through MAC Pink Swoon, MAC Fleur Power and Nars Orgasm}

5. FINISHING IT OFF:

 With a large powder brush, set your makeup by dusting a sheer or transparent powder all over your face and down the neck.
{I am using MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium plus}

Most of you may already do these techniques and maybe some of you don't, this is just a little beauty reminder on ways to enhance your features.

PUMPKIN PATCH

Good Morning!

 Over the weekend, I went pumpkin picking at a near by pumpkin patch. Like apple picking, this has been a yearly tradition of mine since I was a little girl and haven't missed a year yet. It's one of my favorite things to do in the fall and I always have the best time. I ended up getting three pumpkins and will be carving them either tonight or Tuesday. I will be posting pictures on Instagram @sincerelymissash.

It was a chilly day and I wore my warm vest with a long tee underneath, Lululemon Wunder Under leggings, my combat boots and of course a tuque!! I am OBSESSED with tuques for fall and winter, they are so warm and so stylish and I can never have enough in my closet. You will be seeing a lot more posts with me wearing tuques.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!

EDGY MEETS CHIC

Top- Dynamite | Leather Leggings- Dynamite | Leather Blazer- Dynamite | Shoes- Old Navy | Sunglasses- Raybans | Bag- Guess {Old}

Good Morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

First off, can I just say that I LOVE and extremely obsessed with stripes and leather? Oh my gosh, these two pieces paired together are one of my favorite combinations ever! It's classy, edgy and so chic and it works for any season all year round. I was going to pair this outfit with my black heels but since I had a lot of running around to do that day, I threw on my flats and the way I went.

This outfit is one of my favorites and I tend to wear it a lot. I am so glad I bought these leather leggings, as I am always reaching for them in my closet. The Raybans give it that edgy look which I love and if you haven't already noticed, Raybans are the only sunglasses I tend to wear. They are the most comfortable sunglasses ever, goes with every outfit and the most important part, they don't hurt my eyes like some of these other sunglasses out there.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!

7 TIPS FOR FIGHTING OILY SKIN

   WASH YOUR FACE PROPERLY

Even if you are a person who doesn't breakout, try switching to a cleanser for acne prone skin. This will keep your skin looking matte. Get a cleanser that has 2% salicylic acid, which will help break down oils in the pores but don't worry, it wont be overdrying.

DON'T SKIMP OUT ON SUNSCREEN

Surprisingly, sunscreen {oil free and a teaspoon for the face} helps control oil and shine. Skip on your daily moisturizer and apply an oil free sunscreen instead before your makeup.

LESS IS MORE {MAKEUP}

Foundation {heavy foundation} for that matter, can clog pores and make your face more oily. Switch to a tinted moisturizer with silicone. This actually forms a shield over the skin, keeping makeup where it belongs, or try a mineral powder foundation, which will absorb access oil.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE EATING

Spicy and rich foods are not only good and tasty, these foods dilate blood vessels making you perspire = clogged pores. Limit yourself to these foods no more than once a week. Load up on vegetables and fruits, these foods are high in vitamin A and can actually slow down oil production.

FACIALS ALWAYS

 Exfoliate once a week with a mild and gentle scrub to loosen dirt and oil in the pores. Once you have exfoliated, apply a mask. Look for a mask with clay or salicylic acid. The both temporarily decrease oil production in the skin.

EASE UP ON THE NIGHT CREAM

Take it easy on your night time beauty routine. Going overboard on night creams isn't going to make your skin look any better {especially if it's oily to begin with}. If you use a cream, then switch to a lotion, if you already use a lotion then switch to a moisturizing serum. Whatever option you choose, make sure the ingredients in the product contains salicylic or glycolic acid, caffeine {pore shrinking}, or anti-inflammatory niacinamide.

* Pay attention to where you are applying the cream. For example, moisturizing your nose isn't necessary, there are enough oil glands as there is.

BLOT A LITTLE OR BLOT A LOT

Don't keep packing on the powder, no one wants to look like a cakeymess. Resort to blotting papers that have a translucent powder built in {Shiseido makes a great option}. If you are like me and you want to save a few dollars, grab either a piece of toilette paper or kleenex and tear the two pieces apart. If you really look, there is two pieces of toilette paper that are stuck together, same as the Kleenex, tear the two apart and use one sheet at a time to blot around your face.
 It's cheap and works wonders!!

I AM SO GLAD I RESEARCHED
As I am getting older, my skin is changing and I am noticing that my face is becoming more oily vs. dry, which was what my skin was like before. When I knew my skin was changing, I had to research on ways to prevent and maintain the oiliness. Of course, I knew the basics but as I read and made myself more knowledgeable on what specific ingredients to look for in certain products, it made me realize that there was a lot more to know than just the basics. Now that I have followed the steps I shared with you above, I have seen a big difference on the way my face looks throughout the day.

Now go give these tips a try!!!

Do you have any tips for oily skin?

DENIM ON DENIM

Top- Dynamite {Old} | Jeans- American Eagle | Belt- H&M | Boots- Aldo {Old} | Watch- Guess | Bag- Guess

Hey Everyone!

Today's outfit post was what I wore on Friday. I have always loved the look of denim on denim but to add that "fall" feel, I paired the look with riding boots and a cognac belt. I kept the outfit very casual and kept the accessories to a minimum. This look is a little southern meets fall and it's personally one of my favorite combos to wear.

I hope everyone has a great week and thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!

BASIC & GIRLY

Dress- Target | Sweater- Abercrombie & Fitch {Old} | Belt- H&M | Booties- Target | Sunglasses- Raybans

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

I love wearing dresses and tweaking them for fall. This look is still somewhat summery but could work for fall also. There are so many ways you can transition a summer dress or a fall dress for that matter into the cooler months. I love to pair my dresses with loose sweaters or a blazer as well as adding a belt, to add that extra touch of detail to the entire look. I added booties to this outfit but you could also add riding boots {which I personally love} or depending on the dress, you could also wear combat boots. I also like to add tights to my dresses for fall and winter as I am not brave enough to wear my dresses without them. There are so many ways and options you can do to transition a dress into the colder months.
Don't pack away those dresses yet ladies!

Do you transition your dresses into the cooler months and what pieces do you like to pair with it?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!

HOW TO STYLE COMBAT BOOTS

Today I am teaming up again with the lovely Barbie from The Parlor Girl to show you how to style and incorporate combat boots into your fall and winter wardrobe. There are so many different ways you can style and pair combat boots, whether it's with a moto jacket, a blouse, a heavy sweater, a graphic tee {like Barbie} to add some edge and you can also be wearing the most girly outfit and combat boots will still look amazing. These boots can also be laced up to the top or you can undo some laces and tie them around your ankle to add more edge. These boots are so versatile and that's why we love them so much.

I love that Barbie kept it girly by incorporating the skirt but she also made it edgy with the graphic tee and the studded clutch, which I absolutely love. She is gorgeous isn't she?

Ever since I bought these combat boots, I haven't been able to take them off. These boots are perfect for fall and winter and as I mentioned above, they go with almost anything. I love pairing these boots with sweaters, leather jackets, jean jackets, leather leggings, Lululemon leggings and so much more. I also love pairing these boots with a plaid shirt and a moto jacket which I did above. It almost gives a biker/ lumberjack look which I am totally digging.

P.s. Can I just say that I am obsessed with wearing a bold red lip. It totally completed this look and gives some classiness to the outfit also. I have been wearing a red lip almost everyday and absolutely love it, especially this lipstick shade.

Make sure to head on over to Barbie's blog for more fashion tips and styling

APPLE PICKING

Sweater- H&M | Pants- Lululemon Wunder Under Leggings | Boots- Aldo | Belt- H&M | Sunglasses- Raybans | Bracelet- Pandora | Watch- Guess | Nails- Essie Fifth Avenue

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love when the leaves start to change, the windows are wide open, it's such a pretty time of year and one of my favorite things to do during the fall is to go apple picking. I have been apple picking since I was five years old and have been going every year since then without missing a year. It's definitely a tradition of mine and I feel like a little girl again when I do go, it's so much of fun and it never ever gets old. I love to climb the tree's and pick the ones that are at the very top and of course I only pick the "perfect apples." If it takes an hour and a half to get a full bag of perfect apples, then so be it, not to mention, I have to taste test them too, so of course I leave there completely full.

Afterwards, I usually always {never leave without} go to the bakery and buy some homemade butter tarts, donuts, cheese curds and a desert wine, which is another tradition of mine that I refuse to break! Obvi right?

 I'm thinking I will need to go again before the apples are all picked!
Do you enjoy apple picking as much as I do?

Thank you so much for stopping by, xo!!
